Rainscreen cladding systems improve the handling of moisture in exterior walls. This reduces mold infiltration and rot, and also improves the longevity of the visible siding.

In a rainscreen system, the siding is separated from the waterproof wall with clips, allowing air to flow behind it. If water penetrates this screen, it can drain and evaporate instead of settling into the structure.

Another benefit: because the conditions behind the siding are more aligned with those in front, siding materials tend to flex and move less. This means painted or stained surfaces tend to last longer.

The word “rainscreen” may be associated with a modern, slatted look. But rainscreen is a system, not a specific look, so it can be used for traditional or modern architecture styles.

Wood Rainscreen with EXOCLAD®

NOVA RAINSCREEN ASSEMBLY BROCHURE

The ExoClad system consists of the most advanced clip design for wood-based rainscreens, and a matching profile so that wood siding can be patterned to match.

ExoClad clips accommodate the movement of wood which arises from changes in humidity. By flexing when would swells, and springing back when it contracts, ExoClad keeps wood siding looking its best.

ExoClad works with hardwoods, such as our Ipe, Batu, or Torem, as well as with softwoods such as Western Red Cedar or Douglas Fir.

NEWTECHWOOD® Capped Composite Siding

While other capped composite manufacturers tout “decking as siding”, only NewTechWood has a proper, complete, overlapping rainscreen system.

NewTechWood’s siding is capped on all sides, and comes with matching trims that allow for seamless unseen expansion and contraction.

Choose between the classic flat T&G-style “All Weather” profile and the architectural Euro-style profiles – the narrowly castellated Norwegian, or wider-slatted Belgian.

BAMBOO RainClad® Siding

DassoXTR Fused Bamboo siding comes in two formulas – rich, dark Classic Espresso, and a lighter, durability-enhanced, Epic Cognac.

Both are available in 6” and 7” wide end-matched siding which can be used horizontally or vertically, and have a complete matching system including soffit-boards, wainscot, porch flooring, decking and a variety of trim and millwork sizes.

Bamboo is a fast-growing and highly renewable. Full-length bamboo strand is carbonized to render it biologically inert and then fused with ZERO-VOC phenolic resin. The result is a material that is highly stable, with imperceptible movement compared with wood or plastics, and Class A fire-rated.
