In Mahogany, as in so many things, there is a good, a better, and a best.

Batu Mahogany is hands-down the best type of mahogany used for decks, porches, trim and siding, and it’s not hard to see why.

Batu offers a dark russet mahogany color that is both richer and far more consistent than most alternatives.

It is rot- and insect-resistant.  It comes in 8-20’ even lengths where other mahogany is typically offered in 6’ and longer odds and evens. Despite this, the price premium is modest or actually negligible.

But most important is its longevity, strength, and resilience. It’s nearly 3x as resistant to impact as other mahoganies, whose properties are more comparable to pine than to prized tropical hardwoods. Its high silica content gives it superior fire resistance as well. The word ‘batu’ actually means stone – it’s the species that’s used when you want your wood to last.

So it’s looks, performance, and consistency— that’s what makes Batu mahogany stand out from the crowd.

American Lumber stocks a broad selection for exterior use.
