Clapboard is one of the most popular horizontal wood siding profiles.

Clapboard is also called bevel siding because the boards are beveled, or lap siding because they are installed each overlapping the next.

The overlap provides a weather barrier that’s worked for centuries, even in harsh coastal areas.

Other variations include Bungalow siding, which is thicker than a standard bevel for a deeper shadow line and more rustic appearance, and Dolly Varden siding, which has a rabbeted edge, giving it a subtler shadow line.

American Lumber stocks popular and specialty siding profiles, and custom profiles are always an option.
