American Lumber has been awarded FSC chain-of-custody certification, making it the first wholesale lumber and building materials warehouse distributor in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to earn this distinction.
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is one of the best-known environmental certification programs for wood products, and is currently the only program included in the dominant LEED™ Green Building Rating System™.
“We have a lot of contact with residential and commercial architects in our region through American Lumber’s continuing education programs, and we’ve been hearing over and over again that for many of their clients, sustainability and environmental concerns are of great importance.”
“With the growing popularity of LEED™, and the pending arrival of the new Green Building Initiative™ program, the demand for FSC certified material is rising. Dealers can only sell FSC-certified material if they have bought it from a certified supplier like American Lumber.”
“Any dealer who has tried to source FSC certified lumber and plywood knows it can be frustrating and time-consuming. With American Lumber’s industry connections, including strong relationships with FSC-certified manufacturers, the dealer’s job is greatly simplified. American’s goal is to be the dealer’s most cost-effective and convenient way of sourcing documented, certified materials as needed.”
