American Lumber Co. Inc. is a wholesale-only distributor of specialty lumber and building materials serving lumberyards and home centers in the northeastern and mid-Atlantic states.
Our headquarters in Walden is located at the intersection of the major north-south and east-west freight corridors of the northeast, allowing us to serve an area from Boston to Baltimore from one facility.
Since 1918, American Lumber has been a family-owned enterprise, with the fifth generation now active in the business. We strive to be decent, rational and long-term oriented in everything we do. This helps keep American focused on the sustainable success of our customers, suppliers, and career employees.

The brief history of a storied company
1918 Founding family's lumber business opened in New York City; USA proves victorious in WWI.
1931 American Lumber Co. Inc. formally incorporated in New York, surviving through the Great Depression, and ultimately growing to four distribution centers.
1988 American becomes one of the first to adopt proprietary information technology to better serve customers.
1996 All operations consolidated into current headquarters and distribution center in Walden/ Montgomery, NY.
2007 American becomes the first wholesale distributor in the Northeast to offer FSC-Certified lumber.
2009 "We Want Your Small Orders" campaign launched, emphasizing American's strength in custom orders in the course of the deepest recession since the Great Depression.
